Is it us or is Jazz the cocktails latest companion? Lately, it seems a good cocktail and live music go hand-in-hand. Jazz nights are popping up at many of our favorite cocktail spots… especially some of our favorite hotels.
Take A Staycation
Everyone deserves a bit of vacation every now and again, but if you don't have the time to fly to a destination, spend the evening at one of these hotels, leave your worries behind and relax with some cocktails and entertainment.
The Rose Club embodies the grandeur of The Plaza with a splash of contemporary style and spirit. Their live jazz program happens every Wednesday & Thursday. What to expect? On Wednesday’s The Rose Club hosts the Kat Gang Band from 9 pm to Midnight. Guests can experience this quartet’s modern interpretations of jazz standards. Thursday’s Lapis Luna is on from 8:30 pm to Midnight. The vintage jazz and classic swing band features vocalist Shawn Aileen Clark who brings back jazz music from the '30s, '40s and '50s.
It’s Jazz Wednesday every Wednesday night at Henry, A Liquor Bar at the Hudson Hotel. From 8-10pm enjoy live music while sipping innovative cocktails by world-renowned mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana.
Every Tuesday & Wednesday night beginning at 8:00pm, The Lambs Club at The Chatwal Hotel (pictured left) hosts live jazz on the mezzanine level. Additionally, you can order cocktails, light fare or dinner from their a la carte menu. Prefer a leisurely brunch? On Sundays from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm, The Lambs Club holds a Jazz Brunch in their main dining room adorned with a roaring fireplace.
For this one you’ll want to plan in advance as reservations are required: The NoMad Hotel recently launched their Thursday night music series in their intimate second floor space. Next up on the mic is Stacie Orrico. Not only are you getting an exclusive experience, but you can also delight yourself with bites and beverages from the celebrated restaurant and Library bar.
Other Jazzy Gems
Every year we look forward to December 5th when our favorite speakeasies celebrate the end of Prohibition with throwback cocktails, jazz and the blues, realizing how much we do in fact like live jazz and the blues. Well now we’re going to let you in on a little secret. There’s a speakeasy on the Lower East Side that has Prohibition night every Wednesday night. Enter Barramundi Bar, make your way to the back, walk up the staircase and find yourself in the 2nd Floor On Clinton (pictured right). Once you enter and hear the clarinet and keyboard playing you’ll feel like you stepped back in time, except you get to drink out of proper glassware, no paper bags required. Try classics from the 1920s like The Bee’s Knees, Southside, or Mary Pickford. Get there at 7pm with a date or a small group to snag a seat in this intimate 2nd floor gem.
Is your schedule less flexible? Not to worry, not only does The Flatiron Room have a spirits menu with over 750 whiskies, they also have live music NIGHTLY! Reserve a table any night of the week for a refined yet relaxed experience.
