THE DAISY: Move over whiskey, beer and pub grub, the UES welcomes a new concept – an agave-themed gastropub serving exceptional craft cocktails derived from agave spirits and seasonal Mexican American fare. Owner James O’Hanlon built the unique concept around the “margarita,” which literally translates to “daisy” in English. The cool, sleek atmosphere is rustic yet elegant with large leather banquets, high-top tables, and 2 separate bars. Menu highlights include daily taco offerings, Duck Mini Wellingtons, and the Wild Salmon (Early Spring Vegetables, Salmon Roe, Lemon Confit, Lobster Guajillo Salsa). LUNCH DEBUTS at BEDFORD & CO.: Earlier this week the new Midtown restaurant launched lunch service. The menu boasts a variety of healthy and indulgent options from fresh pressed juices and dressed up toasts to beef & barley tartare and organic chicken. Some highlights unique to the lunch menu include the Mac & Cheese (with Cavatappi, Winter Mushrooms, Treviso, Fontina, and Ricotta) and the Bedford Burger (with Bloomsday Cheddar, Caramelized Onion, Pork Belly, Martin’s Potato Bun and House Made Pickles). BRUNCH at THE BENNETT: Tribeca’s new cocktail bar is celebrating the Spring Equinox this Sunday, March 20 with all-day brunch and Kappa Pisco and Grand Marnier drink specials. The $30 prix-fixe brunch includes a starter, entrée, and special cocktail. (The regular Bennett brunch menu will also be available a la carte).

For $30 guests can choose 1 of each:

Catskill Honey Granola (dried cherries, oats, seasonal fruit, greek yoghurt, mint)
Jesus’ Meatballs (pork & beef meatballs, spicy tomato sauce, sunny egg, polenta, queso fresco, cilantro)

OYSTER HAPPY HOUR at KOA: The Japanese noodle lounge and Asian specialty restaurant in the Flatiron District, is now offering $1 oysters during its popular Happy Hour which is weekdays from 5 – 8 p.m.  Slurp these succulent shellfish while enjoying drink specials which include domestic beer for $5, selected wine and cocktails for $6 and specialty cocktails for $8. Additionally, at KOA’s Sake Shot Bar located inside the restaurant, it’s shot, slurp and sayonara for $5, as in take a sake shot hot or cold, have an oyster, and you’re on your way. View venue details…

NEW AMERICAN FARE DINING CONCEPT at CLEMENT: The restaurant at The Peninsula Hotel debuts a new, notable American Fare concept, designed to highlight an approachable sensibility to midtown dining under the direction of new chef, Remi van Peteghem. The fresh new menu includes a permanent rotation of “Chef’s Plates”; other highlights which include Espresso-braised Short Ribs and Caramelized Diver Scallops with Squid Ink Pappardelle.  The “Chef’s Plates,” offered six days a week, feature a selection of comforting classic American dishes that have been reinvented with a nod to international tastes.
