3 NEW OPENINGS

LE BOUDOIR: Last week, the team behind beloved neighborhood French restaurant Chez Moi in Brooklyn Heights, opened Le Boudoir, an underground Rococo-style 75-seat bar inspired by Marie Antoinette. Beverage Director Franky Marshall (formerly of Monkey Bar and The Dead Rabbit) has created a cocktail menu with imaginative takes on classics as well as unique signature offerings, which showcase unexpected spirits and liqueurs. All cocktails have been named as an homage to Antoinette like the Dauphin (Absinthe, Chile Liqueur, Almond Milk, Coconut, and Cacao Nibs). Additionally, guests can order Les Petits Pleasures like Croquettes with Truffled Mushrooms and Country Pâté with Cornichons. SYNDICATED: Last weekend a new dining and entertainment venue opened in Brooklyn’s burgeoning Bushwick neighborhood. Part restaurant, part bar and part independent movie theater, Syndicated is the brainchild of Managing Partner Tim Chung, a former film location scout and lifelong movie buff. Syndicated combines a 50-seat theater with a 70-seat dining room, offering food at both. Savor New American comfort cuisine, a variety of gourmet popcorn flavors, and craft cocktails from the comfort of your seat as you watch classics and indies in the theater attached to the main dining room. Bar manager Kenneth Vanhooser, of Piora, has created a cocktail menu inspired by classics and take their names from the world of film. Sip a Steve McQueen (Bulleit Rye, snap liqueur, carpano antica, dolindry vermouth and whiskey barrel aged bitters) and peruse their large selection of local craft beers. VANDAL: TAO Group founders Marc Packer and Rich Wolf, along with Chef/Owner Chris Santos (of Beauty & Essex and Stanton Social) open VANDAL, a bi-level restaurant, bar and lounge which showcases the work of world-renowned street artists alongside globally inspired street food from destinations as varied as Peru, Vietnam and Barcelona. The design is plush yet gritty, secretive yet exposed, paying homage to the Bowery’s rich history with murals, sculptures, posters, and installations. The main floor boasts three dining rooms and down below is the lounge where the dancing happens. The diverse cuisine, cocktail, and wine menus are all internationally inspired. The drinks are broken down into three categories: Sweet (think easy-drinking spins on classics), Savory (notes of vegetal and spice), and Barrel-Aged (spirit-forward cocktails which have been blended and aged in whiskey barrels for weeks). Spice up the night in this whimsical labyrinth with a Las Palmitas (Thai-spiced Illegal Mezcal, lemon nectar, Thai basil, grapefruit bitters, Schöfferhoffer grapefruit beer). View venue details…

GERMAN BEERS & GLÜHWEIN at SCHALLER’S STUBE SAUSAGE BAR: Beginning this Friday, Schaller’s Stube Sausage Bar will serve authentic German beers. Wash down your favorite quality wursts, pretzels, and fried chicken with 12 -ounce beers for only $5.  For wine drinkers, Chef Alex Melnichenko makes the popular Glühwein (roughly translated as “glow-wine”) for $12, a hot mulled wine that is popular in German-speaking countries during the winter.
Featured beers are:
-Reissdorf Kölsch (4.8% ABV) from Cologne, Germany: This signature lager style is a hybrid between Lager and Ale brewing styles, giving it a crisp, pleasant, full-bodied, with a uniquely light and sweet taste.
-Krombacher Pilsner (4.8% ABV) from Krombach, Germany: This genuine, premium pilsner beer has a full-flavored aroma and a distinctive, finely bitter taste, which is characterized by the pure Felsquellwasser (mountain spring water) it is brewed with.
-Krombacher Dark (4.3% ABV) from Krombach, Germany: This rich and complex Dark Pilsner has an outstanding depth of flavor from the different high roasted malts used in the brewing process. For a full-bodied beer, the taste is moderately bitter, lightly hopped, and rich in malt – leading to a well-balanced character with a full-flavored, intense finish with warm aromas.
