NEW OPENINGS

MR. JONES: Last week Mr. Jones opened the doors of his eponymous lounge on the ground floor of the Trump SoHo New York. Inspired by a well-traveled, well-heeled bon vivant, every detail of Mr. Jones, from the menu to the decor, pays homage to the last classic gentlemen of the 1960’s. The shelves are occupied with global treasures and the walls are adorned with one-of-a-kind lightboxes filled with images of Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and more classic Hollywood stars. The lofted stage is home to Mr. Jones’ House Band three nights a week with a weekly surprise performance. Fitting with the global theme, the cocktail and food menus are also influenced by Mr. Jones’ globetrotting escapades and feature flavors and ingredients from around the world. Tim Cooper (Sweetwater Social, GoldBar) and Benjamin Wood have created the cocktail program. Transport your taste buds to India with the exotic Doctor Mumbai and order up their version of the Chinese street food staple, Crispy Bao Buns. View the full booze menu...

KIMOTO ROOFTOP BEER GARDEN: NYC’s first rooftop Asian beer garden lands in Downtown Brooklyn. Enjoy creative Asian riffs on American favorites (like the Uni PB&J; a spam sushi “dog”) which pair perfectly with their Asian beer and spirits. The beverage menu highlights over 20 craft beers from a collection of Japanese microbrews. The cocktails from Head Bartender Dave Danger (formerly of Jeffrey’s Grocery) utilize Asian spirits, infusions and housemade syrups. Try a Tranquility (lemongrass and Vietnamese black pepper-infused Bombay Sapphire East, King’s Ginger Liqueur, Vida Mezcal, matcha tea, lavender honey and lemon) or Peat’s Dragon (Iwai Blended Japanese Whisky, Laphroaig 10 Yr. Single Malt Scotch, galangal honey, togarashi and yuzu). Enjoy views of Brooklyn from the sprawling outdoor terrace, or escape to the large indoor area which includes a lounge and rock garden room and Zen garden-like décor. View venue details…

GENUINE LIQUORETTE: AvroKO launches a subterranean liquor lounge below Little Italy’s GENUINE Superette. GENUINE Liquorette, the first bar from the GENUINE establishments, features 750 different bottles of spirits. Designed by AvroKO, the space evokes the feel of a California, bodega-style liquor store complete with bottles of spirits lining the walls. Walk down the corridor lined with old newspaper and alcohol and tobacco advertisements and be greeted by the glowing Liquorette sign. The bar's centerpiece has been created by master mixologist Eben Freeman - the 'Cha-Chunker' - which makes its grand debut here. Freeman invented this machine which combines two of his favorite cocktail trends – canned cocktails and the bulldog-style cocktails where mini Corona’s are inverted into a margarita. Freeman is also heading up the “Cocktail Collective” program where he will tap five bartenders from around the world to invent a drink using a specified spirit each month. Those five drinks will be featured on the menu for the month. Order a signature cocktail from the bartender or help yourself… The spirit bottles lining the walls are not just for display but also for customer use and merriment.  Additionally, beer and wine is available in self-service refrigerators.
