NEW OPENING

JAMS: Bringing California cuisine to New York City, Jonathan Waxman’s second rendition of Jams opened last night in the 1 Hotel Central Park. Back in the ‘80s Waxman, who is well known for his West Village staple, Barbuto, started a trend. Fast forward 20+ years and the farm-to-table trend is now a norm in this foodie metropolis. The cocktail menu reflects classics but with a twist; the classic Old Fashioned transforms into the HG Old Fashion (bourbon, Marashino liqueur, triple sec and orange bitters) while the JMW Margarita is poured into a glass rimmed with Hawaiian pink salt. The global wine list focuses heavily on French, Italian and American regions. The rustic and simple Avroko designed space boasts two-storied windows that flood the room with natural light, fitting based on its proximity to Central Park. View venue details...

KOA: This Flatiron modern Chinese restaurant known for its inventive SORBA noodles and creative bar scene introduces a 'Green Tea Cocktail Happy Hour'. Every Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., all Green Tea cocktails will be $8 (regularly $13). Choices include a tasty Green Tea Mojito (rum, lime juice, fresh mint, simple syrup and green tea powder), and a festive Green Tea Margarita (tequila, lime juice, agave and green tea powder). THE SAINT CATHERINE: The Prospect Heights bar is upping the ante for fall with new cocktails, weekly rotating beer taps and near-nightly events to keep its patrons intrigued all week long. Starting this Sunday, August 23, the tavern will host viewings at 9pm of the new AMC show, “Fear the Walking Dead,” for its 6-week run before the sixth season of “The Walking Dead” takes over in October. 'Trivia Tuesdays' will be in full swing at 8pm each week—where elbowing your way to a table is the norm—hosted by ‘Trivia Adam’ with prizes from Bell’s Brewery and Brooklyn Brewery. Wednesday nights welcome the launch of “Cocktail Club,” where the lead bartender concocts bespoke cocktails each week to keep tastebuds enlivened. Then, dust off your old records come Thursday for the bar’s popular “B.Y.O.V.” (Bring Your Own Vinyl) night where your selection is added into the mix for the music rotation during the evening. BOOKER’S BOURBON: Booker’s Bourbon releases their latest "Roundtable" batch, "Oven Buster Batch”. For their fourth batch this uear, the Roundtable was joined by special guest Fred Minnick, author of "Bourbon Curious: A Simple Tasting Guide for a Savvy Drinker.” This limited-edition bourbon has been aged about 6.5yrs and comes in at 127 proof. The aromas are full of vanilla and oak. PLANTATION PINEAPPLE STIGGINS’ FANCY RUM: This limited-edition rum rolling out now was created by Maison Ferrand proprietor Alexandre Gabriel with the help of his good friend, spirits historian David Wondrich. This rum infused with special Queen Victoria pineapples was going to be a ‘one-and-done’ project for Tales of the Cocktail 2014 becuase of the seasonality of the pineapples, but those that tasted it just couldn’t get enough so they decided to continue the production during peak season.
